Parent Code of Conduct

Purpose
The purpose of this Parent Code of Conduct is to establish guidelines for parents/guardians of students participating in Kempshot Sports Academy programs. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment for all students, coaches, and staff.

Expectations
1. Respectful Communication: Parents/guardians are expected to communicate respectfully with coaches, staff, and other parents/students.
2. Positive Support: Parents/guardians should provide positive support and encouragement to their child and other students.
3. Sportsmanship: Parents/guardians should model good sportsmanship and respect for opponents, officials, and other teams.
4. Follow Academy Policies: Parents/guardians are expected to familiarize themselves with and follow academy policies and procedures.
5. Constructive Feedback: Parents/guardians should provide constructive feedback to coaches/staff, avoiding criticism or negative comments.

Unacceptable Behavior
1. Abuse or Harassment: Verbal or physical abuse, harassment, or intimidation towards coaches, staff, students, or officials.
2. Disrespect: Disrespect towards coaches, staff, students, or officials, including negative comments or gestures.
3. Interference: Interfering with coaching decisions, team strategies, or player development.
4. Disruptive Behavior: Disruptive behavior during training sessions, matches, or academy events.

Consequences
1. Verbal Warning: A verbal warning may be issued to parents/guardians who fail to meet expectations.
2. Meeting with Academy Director: A meeting may be scheduled with the academy director to discuss concerns and expectations.
3. Removal from Academy Premises: In extreme cases, parents/guardians may be asked to leave the academy premises.

Parent Responsibilities
1. Registration and Payment: Ensure timely registration and payment of fees.
2. Medical Information: Provide accurate medical information and consent for emergency treatment.
3. Communication: Keep coaches/staff informed about student injuries, illnesses, or concerns.

Academy Commitment
1. Safe and Supportive Environment: Provide a safe and supportive environment for students.
2. Quality Coaching: Employ qualified and experienced coaches.
3. Communication: Maintain open communication with parents/guardians.


24 Hr Rule:
The 24hr rule is a rule that is in place to help keep peace between the coach and parents.  
The rule is simple. Parents are not allowed to approach the coach about issues until 24hrs after the issue.
 
Reasons for the rule:
  • To allow the parent to calm down after the issue has developed
  • Allow the coach to calm down after the event
  • Give parents and coaches time to think about the problem
  • To prevent any unnecessary acts or scenes in front of players and other parent’s
  • Calmer heads will prevail
  • To stop any embarrassing moments in front of the Players or child
  • The hope that time to think about the issues will help to solve the problem in a positive manner and the right resolution
  • Sometimes in the heat of the moment parents and coaches say things that they really don’t mean. This can hurt the player or team because things where not handled correctly. The parent & coach relationship is important, but the overall decisions should be based on what is best for the team and players. The rule is in place to help protect the players and team.
 
Violations Of The Parent Code Of Conduct:

Violations of the Parent Code of Conduct may result in:
  • A Parent being suspended and/or removed from a game for misconduct.
  • A Coach being suspended and/or removed from a game for misconduct.
  • A Parent or Coach could be removed from the team/facility for the duration of the season.

By registering your child for Kempshot Sports Academy programs, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and will comply with this Parent Code of Conduct.
